Dear people,

I am a (hand)gun collector and enthusiast from the Netherlands.

Since the Netherlands has one of the most strict gun laws in Europe, i was wondering how the situation in Croatia is regarding the purchase of firearms.

Is it possible for me as a non Croatian citizen to purchase a firearm in Croatia or is it only possible if you are a perminent citizen?

Perhaps someone has some tips or info regarding where i can upgrade my collection.

Stari moj kako si opisao nabavku oružja u Hrvatskoj ispada da mi odemo u šoping centar i kupimo pištolj a nije baš tako, imamo i mi zakone iako smo na Balkanu. moja preporuka kako da u Hrvatskoj kupiš oružje je da odeš u Nizozemsku ambasadu u ZG i preko njih sve riješiš. osobno me čudi da u EU ne kupiš oružje, mislim da tražiš pištolj HS, a sama EU ima liberalnije zakone od Hrvatske.

Hello there!

Well, we're not that far off from you in terms of gun laws, ie. getting a permit here is a bit longish process (and costly) which takes at least 30 days during which you go through all the possible background checks, medical exam and home visitation of the assigned officers of the law checking if you indeed have proper conditions to store firearms (safes).

Basically, if you have no criminal record and are of fairly good health, you should be getting your permit. It's just a matter of byrocratic procedure and long waiting period.

As for getting a permit/firearm as a non-citizen, I don't know what the exact procedure is. Valdop suggested you check in with the Nederlands ambassy in Zagreb and seek info there.

Go to the nearest police station and ask, simple. But if you ask me you´re going to have a hard time getting that permit even if you have a full citizenship. Croatia is on a good way to be just a little more liberal than UK when it comes to the legal possession of firearms so don´t expect too much. Don´t get me wrong, you just might get lucky and get your permit at the end but be prepared for the worst that you will probably not. If you decide for this "adventure" after all, you are about to see and feel the croatian bureaucracy, slow and painful.

Stranac može nabaviti oružje i streljivo koje će iznijeti iz Republike Hrvatske ako ima odobrenje nadležnog tijela izdano u Republici Hrvatskoj ili u inozemstvu.
Ovlašteni trgovac oružjem ili građanin koji prodaje oružje strancu dužan je oružje odnosno streljivo dostaviti do državne granice i predati ga strancu u nazočnosti policijskog službenika granične policije.

Yes, it"s possible, with permit from your country, or Croatian.

I dont no what guns you colected, old or new, which tipe of firearms.
