VG-1:
[citat]: "VG-1 (also known as V Gold 1 steel) is a high Carbon (C) Molybdenum (Mo) stainless steel manufactured by Takefu Special Steel Co.,Ltd.[1] It is not the same steel as VG-10.
VG-1 has a Carbon (C) content between 0.95-1.05, Chromium (Cr) content between 13.0-15.0, Molybdenum (Mo) content between 0.2-0.4 and contains less than 0.25 of Nickel (Ni).[2] During forging, Mo and Cr forms hard double carbide bonds which help improve the abrasion and corrosion resistance of the steel. [3] It is usually heat treated to reach hardness of 58-61[4]
Knife retailer Cold Steel markets a variety of knives that use VG-1.[5] Cold Steel claims that VG-1 has better sharpness, edge retention, point strength, shock, and strength characteristics than 440C, VG-10, and ATS 34 stainless steels.[6] On the other hand, there have been reports that VG-1 might be more chip prone than other comparable stainless steels, but these reports have been disputed.[7]
VG-1 is also used in hairdresser's scissors, kitchen knives, and blades for food-processing machines[8]."[kraj citata] i na kraju link:

A za
VG-10 stoji sljedeće [citat]:"VG-10 stands for V Gold 10 ("gold" meaning quality), or sometimes V-Kin-10 (kin means "gold" in Japanese), and is a quality cutlery grade stainless steel produced in Japan. Takefu Special Steel co.,Ltd, based in Takefu, Fukui Prefecture, Japan (former cutlery/sword-making center of Echizen) originally designed VG-10 stainless steel.
VG-10's initial market was aimed at Japanese chefs, but found its home in sport cutlery. However, Spyderco which produced some of its most famous models (Delica, Endura, Police...) from VG-10 steel in Japan, resulting in a larger market for the steel.
Almost all VG-10 steel knife blades are manufactured in Japan.
[edit] Composition
From manufacturer's website:
VG-10 is a unique formulation of steel with a high carbon content. It contains various amounts of one or more of the following: Chromium, Vanadium, Molybdenum and Cobalt. High-quality kitchen cutlery, like chefs' knives, are usually what is made with VG-10. VG-10 is considered a "super steel," because it is designed to maintain sharpness and durability without becoming brittle, a major fault normally associated with exceptionally hard steel. This quality is ideal when extreme sharpness is desired, as most other steels will not take or keep an edge like VG-10. In addition to its exceptional edge retention, being a stainless steel, VG-10 is also surprisingly corrosion resistant (generally high-carbon steels are more prone to rust). This is mainly due to its fairly high chromium content.
VG-10 chemical makeup:
Carbon:1.0% Chromium:15.0% Molybdenum:1.0% V:0.2% Cobalt:1.5%
VG-10 should not be confused with VG-1 stainless steel." [kraj citata] i na kraju link:

Ako malo usporediš materijale vidjet ćeš da je VG-10 točnijeg kemijskog sastava od VG-1 i da ima više Molibdena i Kobalta od VG-1, ali i Vanadija kojeg VG-1 nema. Proizvodno, to znači da je to čelik bolje garancije sastava a samim time i kvalitete. Također veće količine ovih legirnih elemenata daju veću krutost i tvrdoću (uz neznatno veću čvrstoću) materijala.
