Victory: Denmark announces complete ban on lead in hunting ammunition
(Uz podrsku Danskog Lovackog saveza)
It has finally happened: Denmark has announced a complete ban on lead in hunting ammunition. The Ministry of Environment and Food of Denmark and the Danish Hunters’ Association made the announcement together. Following a transition period, the ban will be fully implemented in 2023.
With this decision, Denmark goes down in history as being the first country in the world to implement a national ban on lead in hunting ammunition. This is vitally important for nature in general, and birds in particular.
“Neither birds of prey, humans or any other animals should have their food spiced with heavy metals,” says Egon Østergaard, chairman of BirdLife Denmark.
“Lead poisoning is a health risk for the birds. We have put in a lot of work to persuade shifting governments to establish a complete lead ban, so of course we are pleased with a complete ban finally becoming reality.” BirdLife Denmark has reason to celebrate: they have been tirelessly campaigning to ban lead for years.
A bit of history: in 1996, Denmark was the first European country to completely ban lead shot for hunting. However, lead in rifle cartridges remained legal. But in 2019, the Danish Hunters’ Association backed BirdLife Denmark’s longstanding demand for a complete lead ban in hunting. And that was a gamechanger.
The Danish lead ban comes at a crucial point in time: the European Parliament is currently debating a ban on lead shot in Europe’s wetlands. A demand that is strongly supported by BirdLife Denmark.
“Hopefully the Danish ban can put pressure on the rest of the European Union’s Member States. The alternatives to lead shots are available and a ban on lead shots in the wetlands of Europe will make a huge difference for European birds”, says Egon Østergaard.
Even microscopic amounts of lead are poisonous to birds and other wild animals. Birds of prey are especially at risk as lead accumulates in the food chain.
Lead is poison for birds, biodiversity and people. Find out more about why the EU should #BanLead in our infographic on the matter.

SUMMARY
Shooting ranges are isolated facilities, and their activities can be managed.
o The proposed management structure represents an economically feasible and risk-oriented
approach to the assessment of environmental impact of shooting ranges, with the goal to
prevent such impact outside of the facilities:
• economically feasible measures include metallic lead reclamation and recycling;
• the risk-oriented approach is based on the understanding of the potential hazards of only
water-soluble lead species which can migrate in adjacent media and constitute under
0.005% of the total amount of annual metal ingress at the shooting range.
o Under the conditions of discrepancies in EU member states legislation and lack of unified
regulations, risk management presumes restriction of contact between the object and water
resources and monitoring of water soluble and potentially mobile lead species in soils.

Re: EU - ZABRANA OLOVNOG STRELJIVA

Towards sustainable outdoor shooting and fishing – ECHA proposes restrictions on lead use
ECHA/NR/21/07
The European Chemicals Agency brings forward a proposal for further EU-wide restrictions on the use of lead in ammunition for hunting and outdoor sports shooting as well as in fishing. The proposal aims to address the risks of lead in these activities to protect people, wildlife and the environment.
Helsinki, 3 February 2021 – At the request of the European Commission, ECHA has assessed the health and environmental risks posed by the use of lead projectiles for hunting and outdoor sports shooting as well as lead used in fishing sinkers and lures.
The Agency concluded that an EU-wide restriction would be justified. ECHA estimates that at least 127 million birds are at risk of lead poisoning each year. In addition, citizens are exposed to lead, for example, through game hunted with lead ammunition or when making lead ammunition, fishing sinkers or lures at home. Exposure to lead is especially harmful to children's neurological development. About one million children are vulnerable to the toxic effects of lead due to game meat consumption.
The proposal assesses various risk management options and identifies a preferred option to address the risks. It describes the impacts of these measures on human health and the environment as well as the overall costs to society. In simple terms, ECHA’s proposal is the following:
1. Lead sold and used in hunting, sports shooting and other outdoor shooting:
ban on the sale and use of lead gunshot (with a five-year transition period). As current Olympic rules specify the use of lead ammunition for certain disciplines, ECHA also considered an optional derogation for use of lead gunshot for sports shooting only under strict conditions, i.e. when releases to the environment are minimised.
ban on the use of lead in bullets and other projectiles (small calibre: five-year; large calibre: 18-month transition periods). Derogations for continued use if releases to the environment are minimised, i.e. when sports shooting ranges are equipped with bullet traps.
2. Lead sold and used in fishing:
ban on the sale and use of lead sinkers and lures (with transition periods depending on weight: ≤ 50 g three years; > 50 g five years)
immediate ban on the use of lead sinkers when the sinker is deliberately dropped to water (lead drop off techniques).
Military uses of lead ammunition, along with other non-civilian uses of lead ammunition such as by police, security and customs forces, are outside of the scope of the investigation. Indoor uses of lead ammunition are also excluded.
If adopted, the restriction would reduce lead emissions to the environment by approximately 1.7 million tonnes over 20 years. Additionally, the proposed restriction would protect the children of households that very frequently eat game meat. For example, it is assumed that phasing out the use of lead in large-calibre bullets and gunshot could avoid IQ loss in up to 7 000 children a year. The total costs of the restriction to society range from €260 million to €10.5 billion over 20 years depending on the sector affected and the type of restriction imposed.
The proposal is based on the information that was available to ECHA at the time of the preparation and can be updated if information justifying changes comes to light. All stakeholders have the possibility to provide their arguments backed by robust evidence during a six-month consultation, which is scheduled to start on 24 March. ECHA is planning to organise an online info session to explain the restriction process and help stakeholders take part in the consultation.
Next steps
ECHA’s scientific Committees for Risk Assessment and Socio-Economic Analysis will evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of ECHA’s proposal. In their evaluation, they will take into account the scientific evidence received during the consultations. The opinions of the two committees are expected by mid-2022.
The European Commission together with the 27 EU Member states will take the decision on the restriction and its conditions – based on ECHA’s proposal and the committees’ opinion.
Background
ECHA's proposal to further restrict the use of lead follows an earlier one covering lead in gunshot for hunting and sports shooting in or around wetlands. The European Commission adopted this restriction under the regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) on 25 January 2021. It will apply in all EU countries from 15 February 2023.

prijedlog privremenog izuzetka zabrane lovne municije za TRAP sportsku municiju:
In order to maximise the effectiveness of the proposed restriction, SEAC suggested
limiting the optional derogations for lead gunshot for sports shooting to shot sizes
between 1.9 and 2.6 mm because those are the shot sizes used for that activity
Priznaju problematiku zamjene olovne munivje za municiju rubnog paljenja (22lr), muzzle loadere (crni barut) i zracne puske. (mozda se to provuce da ostane)
By contrast, alternatives for lead
bullets and airgun pellets in sports shooting were not found to perform as well as lead.
The Agency noted that lead is currently difficult to replace in a number of
applications, such as small-calibre centrefire ammunition, rimfire ammunition, airgun
ammunition, ammunition for muzzle-loading rifles, full metal jacket bullets and open
tip match bullets
The Agency had not proposed derogations for muzzle loaders and airguns
for hunting, but RAC recognised that the use of both muzzle loaders and airguns in
hunting is limited in volume and that their impact on overall risk reduction is therefore
low.
Zabrana muncije rubnog paljenja u lovu, nakon 10 godina tranzicijskog perioda:
The Commission considers that the ban on the use for hunting of lead centrefire bullets
with calibres smaller than 5.6 mm, and of lead rimfire bullets of any calibre, should
apply after a transitional period of 10 years (rather than the five years recommended
by the Agency).
Olovo za zracnice ostaje:
Furthermore, the Commission does not consider it justified to subject airgun pellets
used for hunting or sports shooting to this restriction. Alternatives to lead airgun
pellets are available only in low quantities, lack precision and cost up to four times
more than lead airgun pellets
The Commission agrees that a ban on the placing on the market and use of lead
gunshot for sports shooting (as proposed by the Agency and supported by RAC and
SEAC) would make enforcement easier. However, the Commission notes that such a
ban could affect Member States’ possibility to host the Olympic Games and other
international competitions in which the use of lead is mandatory. It would also prevent
athletes from training with lead shot in Member States. The Commission considers
that a switch to alternative ammunition (such as steel shot) could be achieved through
a long-term but time-limited derogation (15 years). The derogation should be limited
to gunshot sizes between 1.9 mm and 2.6 mm, which are the only calibres used in
competitions.
Za sve drzave clanice.
This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.

Uglavnom uskoro ovo dolazi na izmjene i kod nas.

Re: EU - ZABRANA OLOVNOG STRELJIVA
https://www.jaktjournalen.se/nyheter/ja ... on/1535347
Ovo je prijevod teksta, google translator:
Najavljena zabrana olova u streljivu neće postati stvarnost.
No, Lovačka udruga također dodaje da još nisu donesene nikakve odluke.
https://www.face.eu/2026/01/lead-in-ammunition-updates/
(Google prijevod)

Najavljena zabrana olova u streljivu neće postati stvarnost.
No, Lovačka udruga također dodaje da još nisu donesene nikakve odluke.
